If you feel excited about this project, join one of The Caravan teams. You can do that from anywhere on the globe, no matter what language(s) you speak, no matter what your abilities or disabilities. Just choose one or more teams you'd like to be on and pledge your time.

This is an amazing opportunity to join a historic project at the grassroots level. Don't delay. We need your help now. The sooner you join, the more you will be able to experience the excitement of helping this project to grow and blossom into something that can really make a difference.

The existing teams are listed below. At this early stage, only the ones that are starred have Captains, so you may want to volunteer to be at least a temporary captain of your chosen team.

Volunteer Teams

Instead of a hierarchical organization, the Friendship Caravan is organized into Teams, with a Captain for each team. This is an ancient method of organization used among many indigenous peoples who divide work according to Clans, with each Clan having its own Chief. A person becomes a Chief when they demonstrate superior ability in a chosen field. When big decisions are made, the Chiefs meet together. They are rarely rewarded in any monetary way, but they enjoy high prestige and a deep sense of satisfaction. The Captains meet regularly, in person and/or by teleconference call, with the President. He keeps the Vision alive and holds all the pieces together while acting as the primary Spokesperson for the Caravan.

As the Caravan develops, we will have paid people on staff. Many of these positions will flow naturally from the base of volunteers that we have worked with and come to know. Even then, we will need a contingent of volunteers. Following is a list of teams and the kinds of skills we're looking for within those teams. These lists are not intended to be exclusive and functions will inevitably overlap. Anyone who feels attracted to working with one or more teams is invited to Sign Up Now.

Teams with an "*" are currently functional. Teams with a "+" already have Captains or temporary captains. Teams that are underlined urgently need help immediately.

As this website develops, readers will be able to click on the team that interests them and get a more detailed description of what their functions are, and an update on what they are doing.

ORGANIZATION OF VOLUNTEERS+ talking to others, organizing responses to this form

ARTISTIC SUPPORT visual and graphic artists and photographers to prepare materials before and during the Caravan

MUSICIANS Multli-cultural musicians and entertainers to help with fundraising events and to speak the Universal Language of Music during the event.

TRANSLATORS knowledge of English and at least one other language

BUILDERS carpenters, electricians, plumbers

DETAIL PEOPLE organizing details of all kinds

COMMUNITY BUILDING organizing events within the Caravan community and interfacing with other communities

COMMUNICATIONS facilitating optimum communications among Caravan members and with the world

TRAVEL LOGISTICS creating the itinerary and arranging for accomodations and locations for events - contacting towns, cities and mayors
along the route - contacting individuals and organizations who pledge to offer the Caravan hospitality including food and shelter for the Caravaneers and animals.

WISDOM KEEPERS Elders and wisdom holders: Priests, rabbis, imams, ministers, spiritual leaders of all kinds.

HEALTH TEAM Doctors, nurses, acupuncturists, masseuses, naturopaths, chiropractors, veterinarians. (Veterinarians and doctors are needed to advise us right now.)

DRIVERS People with trucks and cars who will accompany the Caravan as needed.

COOKS & KITCHEN CREW Chefs who specialize in Middle Eastern and also Western food to set up travelling kitchens that will feed Caravaneers for free and will sell food to visiters. Also clean-up crew.

Contributions

Funds: Another way to help the Caravan is to pledge financial support. Donations of any size are appreciated! This can be anything from tithing your monthly income (giving 10%) or pledging a given sum such as $10 or $100 per month.

Equipment and Supplies: Contributions of services, equipment and supplies for the Caravan are gratefully appreciated. Here is a list of materials and that are currently needed. If you have any of these items or additional materials that may be useful, please contact us.

We need to set up the ability to operate efficiently in cities across America. As our movement grows, this list will expand to include the cities and towns we visit along the way. Please consult the map to see which other cities and towns we will be going through.

For now the cities that concern us most are: New York and Washington, DC
For these cities we urgently need:
